ZZ Top’s rock ‘n roll legacy is unmatched. The band, who emerged in the early ‘70s has been relentlessly releasing music and touring for five decades. Today, they have no signs of slowing down, despite their members who are well into their 70s. In fact, ZZ Top is preparing for the much-awaited release of their upcoming live album, Raw. The record is the last project that the band has worked on with their longtime bassist, Dusty Hill, who sadly passed away in 2021. Raw was conceived from ZZ Top’s Netflix documentary, That Little Ol’ Band from Texas. The album contains tracks used in the documentary and is slated to be released in July 2022.

ZZ Top has five decades of experience in the music scene. The rock legends have sold over 50 million records and have won multiple MTV Video amusing Awards. Indeed, their longevity and legacy have largely impacted the next generation of rock musicians. In 1991, the Texas House of Representatives declared ZZ Top as the “Official Heroes of the State of Texas. In 1994, the band was inducted into the Hollywood Rock Walk, a prestigious honor for rock musicians. Ten years later, ZZ Top received the highest honor, having been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. During their induction, the band has been described to have “charmed millions with their party anthems and brash music videos. Moreover, the Rock Hall statement also mentioned that “ZZ Top’s mammoth tour solidified a nationwide fan base and featured everything from Texas-shaped stages to live rattlesnakes.”

With Hill’s passing, ZZ Top is now composed of singer and guitarist Billy Gibbons, drummer Frank Beard, and bassist Elwood Francis.
