Van Morrison first broke ground in the early ‘60s when he traveled across Europe performing with The Monarchs, his first band. After his time with the Monarchs, he briefly served as a member of the Irish rock group Them. In 1964, Van Morrison recorded and released the song “Gloria” with Them. The single quickly became a hit, putting the band on the garage rock map. During the late ‘60s, Morrison decided to pursue his solo career. He recorded and released the 1967 song “Brown Eyed Girl,” which peaked at number ten on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The hit single was featured in his debut album, Blowin’ Your Mind. Morrison moved on to enjoy a stellar solo career with 42 studio albums, seven live albums, and nine compilation albums to his name.
