Tori Amos is an esteemed singer-songwriter who made an immediate breakthrough with her major label debut, Little Earthquakes. The 1992 album entered the U.S. Billboard 200 and charted in six other countries. Despite performing moderately on the U.S. chart, the album became her landmark record and sold over two million copies, thereby earning double platinum status. Little Earthquakes spawned Amos’ massive hits, “Me and a Gun,” “Silent All These Years,” and “Crucify.”
Two years later, Amos came out with her sophomore effort, Under the Pink, which soared to number 12 on the U.S. charts. The record also broke into several markets like Sweden, Austria, and Scotland. In 1996, Tori Amos released her highest charting effort, Boys for Pele. The platinum-certified album dropped several highly-acclaimed singles, “Caught a Lite Sneeze,” “Hey Jupiter,” and “Professional Widow.”
With 16 phenomenal studio albums under her helm and countless critically-acclaimed singles, Tori Amos remains one of the most influential solo female artists from the pop/alternative genre. Her four-decade career has garnered her eight Grammy nominations and an Echo Klassik Award in Germany. In 1999, Amos was listed in VH1’s “100 Greatest Women of Rock and Roll.”
