Experience soul music's finest hour when Seal hits the concert stage on Sunday 5th May 2024 at the Mountain Winery. This is a celebratory concert to commemorate the 30th anniversary release of two of Seal's landmark albums - "Seal" in 1991, and "Seal II" in 1994. The Grammy award-winning, platinum-selling British singer, songwriter, and record producer, who we mononymously know as Seal will join forces with his long-time producer, Trevor Horn, who will take on the helm as musical director for Seal's 30th Anniversary Tour. This tour made an initial run in 2023, but due to the persistent clamor from Seal's legions of fans, the tour will extend its run through 2024. The focal point of the show is that audiences will be treated to a euphonious repertoire where Seal is set to perform the songs from both "Seal" and "Seal II" in its entirety.
The single "Killer" created a buzz for Seal's self-titled album; but the follow-up single "Crazy" put Seal on the map, so to speak. The song hit number two on the UK Singles Charts and clinched the number seven spot on the Billboard Hot 100 in the US. The Trevor Horn-produced debut album earned favorable reviews as well from music critics. In the 1992 Brit Awards, Seal was one of the big winners that night, scooping up three major awards for Best British Male, Best British Video ("Killer"), and Best British Album (Seal). Pitchfork describes the album as “a vast, multi-sensory explosion of color and texture, a voice giving voice to something beautiful.” It was also highly successful sales-wise as it sold double platinum, taking on the #1 spot on the UK Album Charts.
A follow-up to the monumental debut album was definitely in order, so Seal teamed up once again with Trevor Horn for his sophomore 1996 release entitled "Seal II". The album spawned its first two singles "Prayer for the Dying" and "Newborn Friend", which performed with lesser chart action, but the album was raved about by critics and received a Grammy nomination for Album of the Year. After that, they pulled a third single out of the hat called "Kiss from a Rose", which had moderate play and chart action as well. This single was then remixed and taken to be part of the Batman Forever soundtrack. From there, "Kiss From A Rose" became a monster hit that sky-rocketed to the top of the Billboard Hot 100. This song is Seal's top performer and solidified his artistic credibility and mainstream viability. That same year, Seal accepted his Grammy Award for Record of the Year and Grammy Award for Song of the Year.
