Canadian comedian Russell Peters has been listed as one of the highest-paid comedians in the world. In 2013, Forbe ranked him number 3 among the top-paid comedic performers. His incredible career has brought numerous accolades, including a Gemini Award, a Peabody Award, and an International Emmy Award for Best Arts Programming. Furthermore, He’s also the first ever stand-up comedian to have a Netflix Comedy Special. Peters’ material often makes fun of various ethnicity, including his own. He was born in Toronto, Canada, but he was raised by immigrant parents from India.

In 1989, Peters began performing stand-up comedy in Toronto. It took him a few years to make the rounds in the comedy circuit before meeting the comedic legend George Carlin. The veteran comedian gave Peters valuable advice that he took to heart. Peters relentlessly performed on stage “whenever and wherever possible.” Several years later, Peters was brought in as host to one of Carlin’s shows before he passed away. By 2013, Peters has become the hottest name in comedy. He was selling out arenas all over the world and received numerous honors, including the 2013 Trailblazer Awards from the Association of South Asians in Media, Marketing, and Entertainment. The same year, Peters held a worldwide tour that included Asia, Australia, The U.K., and North America. He earned over 20 million Dollars in gross ticket sales that year, ranking him number 3 on the highest-paid comedians list.

Although his material is often inspired by poking fun at ethnicities and racial stereotypes, Peters has a knack for making people laugh. His impressions are often praised for being spot-on. Peters dropped his first comedy special in Comedy Now! in 2004. The 45-minute performance has been discussed in the stand-up comedy circuit, with fans uploading segments on Youtube. Peters sold out several arenas, including Toronto’s Air Canada Centre, London’s O2 Arena, and the Singapore Indoor Stadium. He also set a record as the largest stand-up comedy show in Australia when he sold out his performance in Sydney.
