Ron White, a.k.a. Tater Salad, is known for his natural storytelling talent, self-deprecation, and unapologetic humor. He would often bring a glass of scotch and a cigar as part of his act. From 2000 to 2003, White embarked on a legendary Blue Collar Comedy Tour with Jeff Foxworthy, Bill Engvall, and Larry the Cable Guy. The tour sold-out shows across the U.S. and grossed over 15 million Dollars. White has released seven comedy specials, the most notable being the 2006 release, You Can’t Fix Stupid. The comedy special peaked at number 1 on Billboard’s Top Comedy Albums chart and number 14 on Billboard 200. You Can’t Fix Stupid was followed by two more number 1 albums, Behavioral Problems (2009) and A Little Unprofessional (2013). In 2018, White released his latest comedy special with Netflix titled, If You Quit Listening, I’ll Shut Up.
During an interview, White explained why he is retiring from stand-up. “I don’t think it really makes sense to anybody but me,” he said. “I’ve been doing this for 37 years. I loved the whole ride. I just feel like it’s time to put it down. I have a big year coming, and that’ll be it.” White, an actor and author, added that he’s in a good place and comfortable with his decision.
